Twins, Multiples & Travel: Chasing Knowledge (and Sharing it with You!) Hopefully in Portugal!

Hello everyone!

It's Doula Doula Sarah, here with an exciting – and slightly chaotic – and entirely desperate blog!

As you may know, I'm a passionate advocate for improving pregnancy outcomes, especially for twins and multiples.

This dedication has led me to a having accepted an abstract at the World Fetal Medicine Congress in Portugal on June 23rd!

Professor Kypros Nicolaides, the world-renowned expert in fetal medicine (and the kindest doctor you'll ever meet!), is truly incredible.

My abstract focuses on readily available technology that could significantly reduce stillbirth rates – a cause deeply personal to me after my own experiences supporting twin and multiple families who have lost a baby after the fact.

My twins were prem and TAPS survivors. I see day in day out, hour after hour, minute to minute their unique and special bond. They are my muses and inspire me to ensure as many twins and multiples as possible live their life with their womb chum with the.

However, life throws curveballs sometimes (or in my case, a whole car full of them!). We recently bought a new car and it hasn't lived up to all that was promised and it isn't suitable for the long trip.

The dealership accepts the car needs to be replaced but fir some reason as such a major company and all I have told them about how very important my trup is and they have not offered a temporary solution while they find a replacement. Airfare and hotel is simply out of reach, especially since I initially planned to attend with my family.

I planned to share some blogs and vlog written and delivered by my amazing twin daughters, Kitty and Willow 9, who are just as passionate about all I am trying do in helping families with high-risk pregnancies as I am. In fact, they're both planning to blog about the experience!

Willow will post as ever the pragmatist, tackling the topic from a child's perspective in her blog of mine called, "What Do You See?"

She'll be exploring the realities of what it's like to be a twin, with all the ups and downs. Get ready for some brutal honesty and hilarious insights (twins can be brutally honest, trust me!).

Kitty, the dreamer of the two, will be focusing on the beauty of birth in her blog, "Embracing the Miracle." She'll be translating some of my more technical blogs into child-friendly language, making complex medical information accessible to younger audiences.

We hope that by sharing our journey, we can not only raise awareness about high-risk pregnancies, but also bridge the gap between children and adults when it comes to these important topics.

Now, the car situation is still a hurdle. I am determined to find a way to Portugal, even if it means some creative carpooling or last-minute travel magic! In the meantime, keep an eye out for Willow and blog posts later today. We'll be sure to share the links here and Kitty's first blog will follow.

I think Coco the Ginger Ninja might put in an appearance via vlog if she takes a break from hanging upside down and thinking in leopard print and neon haha

finally my son is unwell and in hospital. In bad shape but hopefully due to inflammatory markers were lower as reflected with the last blood test.

send prayers and positivity for my boy.

Wish us luck!

If you can help me in any way please let me know.

Love,

Sarah (and the ever-resourceful Willow & Kitty)

P.S. Professor Kypros Nicolaides is a true champion for expectant mothers. He even has a wealth of information available for free on the FMF website, so you can learn more about your own pregnancy journey!
